Equipment

I first grappled with photography when I was just 14 years old. My father let me loose on humanity with a Kodak camera with a leather case and a light meter that was also encased in leather. It's amazing when you think that nowadays cameras go off automatically when you laugh. I learnt all about camera settings and the interplay between the aperture, shutter speeds and film sensitivity. After a further four years, I was then given a Rollei 35 miniature viewfinder camera, which produced brilliant results for me back then.

After this, I bought my first single-lens reflex camera, an EXAKTA HS-3. It had a bayonet for Pentax lenses and took really good photographs, as far as I could judge.

I then made the switch to CANON when the EOS series came out, and specifically to the 650 EOS with autofocus. Over the years, I have made one or two purchases, but have stayed loyal to the CANON brand ever since.

I often hear about differences of opinion between owners of CANON and NIKON cameras, which I myself consider to be fairly stupid. The camera is a tool, a good photograph is a matter of opinion, interpretation or whatever ..., but in any case, it is the well-trained eye that captures the viewer, and the technical quality of the two brands is pretty much the same!
